Tulum, the archaeological site of a Mayan seaside walled city, is located in the Yucatan Peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. The city, which overlooks the Caribbean Sea, was a very important trading port before the Spanish came to the area. Maya were well protected in the city by a wall and inaccessible sea cliffs. I really enjoyed my visit to the site which combines well preserved buildings with magnificent views of the Caribbean Sea. There are a lot of tours from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and other parts of Mexico to the archaeological site of Tulum.

Pescadores Beach
After exploring the archaeological site it is a good idea to visit Pescadores Beach, take a boat and swim with the amazing sea turtles of the area.
